Winter weddings really are very special. They’re atmospheric, romantic and if you’re super lucky, they’re full of frosty beauty. But, when the temperatures dip, how do you keep warm at your winter wedding? Well, fear not because we’ve got all those must know tips plus some fantastic ideas that will keep you cosy all day long. If you want to keep warm, a beautiful bridal cover-up needs to be on your wedding accessories wish list. Boleros, shrugs and stoles keep the chill off your back and shoulders, especially when you’re outside for photographs and they look amazing too. You could opt for a softly coloured stole in blush pink or a bolero in silver grey. If you’d like a make a statement, then an ostrich feather bridal stole would be absolutely perfect.

So, now you’ve got your bridal ensemble confirmed, it’s time to think about the rest of your big day. Here are some great tips so that everyone can keep warm at your winter wedding:

• Speak to your photographer about timings for any outdoor photography. Don’t let older guests or guests with younger children spend too long outside.
• Consider setting out a few baskets of blankets and shawls for guests to take if they start feeling the cold. If you think you might be cold during dinner, ask for a blanket to be left at your seat for you too.
• A hot chocolate or hot cocoa station is a great addition to a winter wedding and guests LOVE them! Don’t forget the marshmallows for extra wintery goodness.

• If you’re holding your reception in a marquee or tipi, find out what heating is provided and consider bringing in extra heaters if needed.
• Warming canapés and mulled reception drinks are absolutely perfect for winter weddings. Mini mugs of soup, shepherd’s pies, macaroni cheeses and Yorkshire puddings are sure to make your guests happy.
• Venues with open fireplaces are just a dream in winter. Ask the staff to make sure there’s a roaring fire in the grate all day long.
• Candles are another winter must-have. Ditch those cold overhead lights and fill your venue with soft, flickering candles for the ultimate in seasonal style.
